Glamour - Fine Art Photography Workshops Miami

All skill levels

Glamour Photography Workshop Schedule Fall 2009

September 12th 2009

October 3rd 2009

Images of Models scheduled will appear soon

Workshop Overview: The workshops are designed to accommodate all skill levels.

You will be shooting under studio lighting conditions. I generally like to start our shoots by discussing some of the facts and myths about glamour photography, cover some technical matters about camera and lighting equipment. I promise not to ramble on to much and get down to shooting quickly. Our conversation is geared to practical matters that will assist and improve your efforts immediately. One on one assistance is provided....as much, or as little, as needed depending on your skill level. Some of the processes/how to's we will review in detail.... such as working with strobes, lighting arrangement, the set, working with light modifiers (Soft boxes, reflectors etc ) taking manual meter readings, working with models, where to find models, the digital process/workflow/digital darkroom and any other topic pertaining to photography that you want to discuss and that will be appropriate. Our goal is that anyone coming to the class will take away enough information to be able to duplicate the process on your own. I encourage questions.

The model (If we have more then 6 photographers booked for the shoot we will generally bring in a second model for the workshop) will pose in several different "looks" from swim wear, lingerie to tasteful nudity. Each photographer will shoot one on one with the model for approximately 10 minutes in each of her "looks" or outfit changes. You will be shooting swim suit, lingerie and fine art nudes. Overall you will have ample time to work with the model. If you are shooting digitally, expect to shoot up to 300 images. Film shooters will generally shoot up to 100+ images. We will review the digital work on a laptop as time permits.

If you shoot film, which is okay with me, I recommend a Fuji or Kodak professional print film such as Portra or Velvia or similar. ASA 160. Have at least 4-6 rolls of 36 images each to ensure you have adequate supply.

workshop fee discounts available for couples and groups of 3 or more

If you plan on shooting you need to bring:

  1. A 35mm DSLR/SLR Camera... .. or Medium Format...Digital or Film...
  2. Point and Shoots ...typically not used for this type of photography...if you have questions write or call.
  3. A Lens, or several... Traditionally the focal length of a good lens for photographing people falls in at about 70-120mm...a zoom covering that range is fine, as well as fixed focal length. If you have several lenses bring them to the shoot.
  4. A Hot Shoe Flash... The flash is used ONLY to wirelessly trigger the strobe lights. Any flash will do as long as it's compatible with your camera.
  5. Media Cards: Make sure you have enough digital media cards to accommodate up to 300 images as well as ample battery power. Bring your battery charger with you.

The workshops are held on Saturday' s from 1:00PM till 6:00 or 7:00PM

We shoot at one of the hotels or on location in the Doral area of Miami...

The location of the shoot will be published on the site a week prior to the shoot.....all our shoots are held in the Doral area of Miami.. typically at one of the hotels... minutes west of Miami International Airport....The fee for walk up's is $325.00 cash only...walk in's are welcome the day of the shoot however we limit the amount of photographers to 10-please reserve your space if you plan on attending.. thank you!
